Configuration
Discovery
Which atypical.toml a tool reads.
| Rule | Behavior |
|---|---|
| File name | atypical.toml |
| Search | The working directory, then each ancestor up to the root; first match wins |
| Files further up | Not merged; use extends |
--config <FILE> | Skips the search; the file may have any name |
| Section | Each tool reads one top-level table; commit-lint reads [commit] |
Missing file or section
A missing file, or a file without the tool's section, is not an error. The tool has nothing to enforce, and every input passes.
A present but empty [commit] section enforces the
default grammar.
Unknown keys
[commit] rejects keys it does not define, including the removed
fixed-layout keys. The
reserved keys are consumed during
merging and never reach the schema.
